ABOUT KAVICS

Zöldmáli Kavics is a dog who truly embodies what we strive for in the Wirehaired Vizsla: a beautiful, stylish dog with a wonderful temperament, genuine hunting ability, and the kind of character that makes him a joy to live and work with.

Kavics has inherited his mother Puma’s wonderfully calm, balanced temperament. He is exceptionally easy-going with both people and other dogs, and is simply an easy dog to have around. He is also a pleasure to train — give him a little praise and encouragement, and he would bring the stars down for you. His willingness to work and his desire to please make him a very special companion both in the field and at home.

From a very young age, Kavics showed outstanding natural hunting instincts. He started hunting at just four months of age and has always displayed an instinctive understanding of his work, including a beautiful natural backing instinct. He has a stylish, composed point and a strong, natural retrieve, and he absolutely loves the water.

At only 15 months of age, Kavics passed the ÖTV — the highest-level Field and Water Test in Hungary — with 1st Prize, an achievement we are particularly proud of. His working qualities are complemented by an impressive show career: in 2025, he became Junior European Winner in Brno, Czech Republic, as well as Hungarian Junior Champion.

Kavics is also a very special dog genetically. He is homozygous for the Furnishing gene, meaning he will never produce smooth-coated puppies. His love of water is equally remarkable — and interestingly, all of his offspring so far have inherited his passion for water.

He has completed all available health examinations and is clear of everything tested, giving us great confidence in his future as a breeding male. Kavics is an approved stud of the Wirehaired Vizsla Club of Hungary (MDMTE).

Behind Kavics stands five generations of dual champion bloodlines, combining both outstanding working ability and show success. For us, however, his greatest qualities are not written on a pedigree or certificate: they are found in his temperament, his natural instincts, his eagerness to work, and the incredible ease with which he connects with the people around him.

Kavics is the kind of dog who makes everything look easy — in the show ring, in the hunting field, in training, and simply in everyday life.
